About the Artist:

Cynthia Ann Rutherford is a local artist immersed in painting the ambiance of this region. Her interests are: local wineries and vineyards, house and building portraits, decorative florals and  botanicals.

I had an idyllic childhood growing up next to 300 acres of preserved woodlands in New England. Natural beauty was always in my sight of vision. To paint from a place of observing nature and experiencing it with all my senses can be just as magical as my childhood. Living now in Eastern Washington, I love to find those inspiring places where I can set up my easel and just paint the scene before me translating and capturing those fleeting moments of magic onto my canvas.  I am particularly interested in highlighting our amazing local wine region of Eastern Washington through Plein Air* painting.

I studied Fine Arts at Columbia Basin College and Evangel University.  Recently I have studied with prominent artists: Jim Lamb, Deanne Lemley, Jean Haines, Dremma Tolle Perry, and Todd Telander
Member of: Plein Air Washington Artists, Mid-Columbia Water Color Society, and Cyber Arts 509.

*Plein Air Painting: term used for paintings or drawings made directly from nature and infused with a feeling of the open air.
