About the artist:
Born in Kansas and raised on a farm in Idaho, my upbringing helped me appreciate the outdoors and this is still among the greatest gifts of each day.
During my freshman year in high school, I had seen a small watercolor amidst all the oil paintings in the National Museum of Art in Washington, D.C. I was so moved. The color and the simplicity made for a lasting desire to learn and express through watercolor.
My paintings are impressions of places and moments in time, using color and pattern to create a mood I hope the viewer can identify with. I enjoy new approaches and different techniques in using watercolor media. Sometimes, becoming so enamored by the action of the watercolors, I am momentarily lost in creating the feeling I want to convey.
A late starter and self-taught, I constantly study other artists and glean that which appeals to me on the way to becoming who I am. My paintings are a representation of the journey of my life.
