About the artist:
Renae Favor, Creator of Fun Things, has been an artist since coloring on the walls as a toddler. She draws, paints, sculpts, designs stained glass, as well as other medium. Her most current medium is gourd work. Her gift has been shared mostly with family and friends. These loved ones have encouraged Renae to provide the public an opportunity to purchase one of her unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of 3-D art.
Born in Lewiston, ID Renae has lived and attended schools in Pasco and Richland for a time. When she was in middle school, her family moved for the last time to Kennewick where she attended Highland Middle School and Kamiakin High School. An early artistic mentor for Renae was Patrick Fleming, a former art teacher at Kamiakin. Conseulo Soto Murphy and Linda Christine are just a couple of her favorite local artists and Ron Doyle, advertising designer and painter also inspires Renae’s work.
Renae was inspired to start working with gourds after making Christmas ornaments one holiday season. Her body of 3-dimensional gourd work ranges from small gourd ornaments to extra large hand carved lamps. You & I Framing & Gallery invites artists to share their work. Renae was honored to have been selected to display her current body of work in their gallery during the October 2012 Art Walk.
In mid-July, at the 2012 Northwest Gourd Festival in Ellensburg, two of Renae’s art pieces earned top awards in their division. At the Sixth Street Art & Gift Gallery in Prosser, you can see gourd masks Renae has been asked to display and offer for sale. She is a member of the Washington State Gourd Society and the American Gourd Society. A photo of her work has been featured on their page. Renae has a Facebook page, Renae Favor, Artist.
Renae is a licensed massage therapist and owns her own business, Body 'n Balance, located in Richland. She currently lives in Kennewick.
