About the Artist:
Art has always been a part of my life. I grew up surrounded by paintings my parents bought and became acquainted with works by famous artists from early childhood. I majored in art and received a BFA from the University of Washington. After many years of graphic design work, teaching art classes, and other art endeavors I had a chance to return to my fine art roots, concentrating on watercolor painting. In my paintings I strive to create recognizable images without being photographic, using the contrast of light and shadow to define the forms. I emphasize certain aspects of the scene or object and ignore others to share with the viewer what I see as the essence of the subject. I have participated in juried shows in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Colorado.
